What can you do with a degree in Women's Studies?
By the time they complete their degree, Women's Studies students are subject experts in the areas of gender, intersectionality, and equity, with an understanding of what it takes to empower themselves and others to become change makers. This makes them highly competitive on the job market, as employers increasingly seek candidates with intersectional expertise.

Queer Walking Tour
In the fall of 2017, students in Cathleen Rhodes’s Queer Studies class at Old Dominion University designed and led a walking tour of LGBTQ historical spots in Norfolk, Virginia.
Students Create Online Map that Highlights Virginia Women’s STEM Contributions
A women in technology class, taught by Ruth Osorio, created a map with pinned entries detailing the contributions of women in Virginia to the science, technology, engineering and math fields.
Refugee Studies Research: Learning by helping
A service-learning course, sponsored by ODU's Women's, Gender, & Sexuality Studies department, focused on learning about refugee communities, researching the complex issues they navigate and helping them resettle in Hampton Roads.
Tidewater Queer History Project
Tidewater Queer History Project is an academic/community partnership. A dedicated group of core volunteers works to collect and preserve LGBTQ history in and around Hampton Roads, Virginia.
