J.C. Scrap Chandler Pool

Dive into the right aquatic program for you!

The J.C. Scrap Chandler Pool, located inside the ODU Student Recreation Center, is an 8 lane, 25 yard indoor pool with depths between 4 and 15 feet. The temperature is set between 78-80 degrees because it is a competition pool. Locker and shower facilities are available. Members can participate in a variety of programs including:

  • lap swimming
  • American Red Cross safety courses
  • swimming lessons

Pumpkin Splash!

Celebrate spooky season with floating pumpkins, pumpkin painting, a splash in the pool, and a Halloween movie! We will be playing Halloweentown beginning at 12:30 p.m. We look forward to having your family at the Old Dominion University pool!

 Want to become a Lifeguard or Swim Instructor?

Apply online! Eligible applicants:

  • must be 16 years of age or older
  • must pass the complimentary American Red Cross Certification Course provided
  • do not have to be current ODU students


Lap swimming is a great low-impact cardio exercise, and is available to SRC members during specific hours each week. See pool calendar below for hours.
