Inclusive Variety
Certified instructors provide a variety of group exercise classes for all fitness levels! People of all backgrounds and fitness levels make up our group exercise community. Each class and instructor value inclusion to help motivate you to reach your personal goals.
Class Cost
Classes are FREE for all Recreation & Wellness members! See the membership page for more information on starting a membership if you are not currently a member.
Location
We are offering in-person classes at the ODU Student Recreation Center. Virtual classes are available on our Youtube channel.
Registration
Register through the ODU Rec Well app or online via the Rec Well Portal. Please plan to arrive 5-10 minutes prior to the start of the class. You can also cancel your registration on the Rec Well Portal.

Group Fitness Policies
Late Policy
If a fitness class is full and you do not arrive before the listed start time, your spot will be given to the next person on the waitlist.
No-Show Policy Effective February 1st, 2023
Fitness classes have a finite number of spots available. To be fair to all participants, if you do not cancel and do not show up to a class, you are considered a "no-show" participant. If you no-show three times in one semester, you will lose your online program registration privileges for a week.
Class Descriptions
CANCEL REGISTRATION
Can't make a class you registered for? Open your spot for someone else by canceling your registration! It's easy to do:
- Visit the Rec Well Portal icon in the Rec Well App or sign in to recwellportal.odu.edu on a web browser
- Sign into your account
- Click on your user icon in the top right corner and select "Profile"
- From the profile page, select "Program Registrations" seen along the left side of the page on a desktop (if on mobile, this will be a dropdown menu toward the top of the page)
- Under program registrations, find the class you wish to cancel.
- Click the three dots to the right of that class .
- Click "Cancel Registration"

Devon J.
Devon is an ODU student majoring in physical education. He trains to inspire!

Elizabeth O.
Elizabeth is a graduate student in the ODU DPT program. She is eager to work with new and seasoned gym goers. She wants to help you feel comfortable in the gym! Outside of the gym, she loves the outdoors and bike riding.

Gabrielle M.
Gabrielle is a student in ODU's DPT program. She is a Personal Trainer and co-coach for the Small Group Training program "Women on Weights". Her favorite forms of exercise are running and functional weight lifting. She is looking forward to helping people discover a form of exercise they genuinely enjoy.

Hope Y.
Hope is an ODU student. Fun facts about Hope: she played the saxophone for 7 years and she loves her German Shepherd Dog!

Julia B.
Julia is an exercise science major at ODU. She loves teaching group fitness classes at ODU!

Libby M.
Libby is an ODU student majoring in speech-language pathology and minoring in special education.

Lorenzo L.
Zo is excited to take you on a Dance Fitness adventure through MixxedFit classes at ODU. No one starts or finishes the same way...but Zo is ready to learn, grow, sweat and enjoy this journey with his participants. In the words of Zo, "We Got This!"

Madison M.
Madison is an ODU student majoring in exercise science. She is excited to lead Monarchs in the Synrgy360 Strength Circuit group fitness classes.

Rodney R.
Rodney is an exercise science major at ODU and he is also in the Army ROTC program. In his free time, he likes to go to the beach!

Shamar H.
Shamar is an ODU student and a Muay Thai fighter. He teaches the Boxing Basics Small Group Training at the SRC.

Sharan A.
Sharan is a Faculty of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. He loves running, doing yoga, and meditation. He also builds satellites and spacecraft. He teaches the Meditation and Breath class at ODU.

Sonja A.
Sonja loves to train movement quality to transform muscular power, tone, and functional performance. She is a fellow of Applied Functional Science and a Group Fitness Instructor at the SRC.
