The SRC Expansion

The building that houses the Old Dominion University Student Recreation Center is expanding! The side of the building that faces Owens House will receive a 17,500 square foot two-story expansion. The new space will become home to Student Health Services, Counseling Services and Health Promotion. The expansion is anticipated to be completed by spring 2024.

Impact on Parking

This building project has resulted in the permanent closure of parking Lot 57 adjacent to the Student Recreation Center. Also, during construction, the southern half of parking Lot 49, at the corner of 48th Street and Powhatan Avenue, will be closed for use by the construction team. Here is a campus parking map for reference.

The following alternate parking locations are available:

• ADA-compliant accessible parking is available in: Lot 3 behind Broderick Dining Commons; Lot 10 at the Jim Jarrett Athletic Administration building; and in the northern half of Lot 49 adjacent to Owens House.
• SRC Community members with monthly SRC parking permits can continue to park in Lots 49, 42 and 43.
• Hourly parking with ODU Mobile Pay will continue to be available in Lot 49 on a space-available basis.
• Faculty/Staff may continue to park in the northern half of Lot 49 (along 49th Street), as well as the Faculty/Staff spaces in Lot 32 across Powhatan Avenue.
