Michael is impressed not only with the professionalism he receives, but from the philosophy of the clinic. He describes his therapeutic care as "fantastic. Their doors are always open. As a research facility, they want to disprove the model of short-term rehabilitation for sinal cord injuries. They want to show there should be a push for more care for a longer period."
"They can take the most infirmed, and bring them so far. They are magical. They do great things, and I am so happy to be able to be part of this clinic."

Andy Wallach works out at Monarch Physical Therapy.
"I love the students. They want you to get better. They are so enthusiastic about their work that it makes you want to come here."
Helen "Helena" Ausink

ODU Monarch PT Clinic patient Helena Ausink is all smiles during her therapy session.
"The impact has been incredible," Helena says, adding that she is also grateful for the time that the students at the clinic have given her during her rehabilitation.
"My balance has been much more steady. I've gotten stronger. I had to relearn things as simple as skipping."
William Burke Gillespie

Physical therapist Karen Royall works with toddler William Gillespie during one of his therapy sessions.
"His hard-wiring of his brain was fine; he is otherwise just a typical baby, but because of what happened—that put him at a delay," said Karen Royall, a pediatric physical therapist, who has been working with the Gillespies since they have arrived at the clinic. "When William first arrived, he had difficulty rolling and difficulty pushing up on his tummy because he had never been on his tummy."
