A Member of the Virginia Symphony Stopped by to Give a Personal Experience in Music

In the Infant Room at the ODU CLRC we have observed that songs and music can change the whole mood of the room. Music can help foster a happy classroom! Research shows that introducing babies to tunes is an easy and enjoyable way to interact with babies in their first year and can help set the stage for lifelong musical development. Plus, playing together with music can brighten the mood, benefit an infant's brain, and boost language skills. Michael Laubach from the Virginia Symphony Orchestra and Dad to Val and Nat shared some of his musical instruments and gave us a mini music lesson!

Our preschoolers love music, melodies and practicing rhythms with a beat! Music fosters a sense of community and belonging. Dancing to music help children build motor skills while allowing them to practice self-expression.
