Peanut Butter for Parking 2022

Pay for eligible parking citations with peanut butter!

"Peanut Butter for Parking" is returning this year! As part of Monarchs Give Back: Community Service Project, ODU TPS will be hosting the Peanut Butter for Parking campaign to help reduce student food insecurity. During the first week of October, October 4-6, 2022 8am-4:30pm for THREE DAYS ONLY (Tuesday-Thursday), TPS will accept peanut butter donations to pay for eligible parking citations. All donations will help feed the local community.

Why Peanut Butter?

Jars of peanut butter are one of the most highly requested items at food banks, yet one of those least donated. Peanut butter has a long shelf life and is a nutritious form of protein. This item is also inexpensive and popular with college students.

ALL UNPAID citations are eligble including ADA, fire lane, reserved, and citations in collections.

Citations currently under appeal or re-appeal are EXCLUDED from this program.

  • 1 oz equals $1 towards total citation amount with a limit of 100 oz equaling to $100 per person can be earned through donation and all other outstanding citations must be paid at the time of donation.
  • Citations which are in collections (those over 120 past issue date) are eligible.
  • Peanut butter must be unopened and not expired
  • The eligibility to participate in the "Peanut Butter for Parking" program may be revoked at the discretion of TPS.

How Much is My Jar of Peanut Butter Worth?

The ounces of the peanut butter determines the dollar value that is applied to citations. Whole ounces will only be counted, no rounding. Peanut Butter must be unopened and not expired.

A 16 ounce jar of peanut butter donated will give the student $16 to use towards citation fines.

  • 16.7 ounces will be counted as 16 ounces (ex. 16.7oz = $16).

A 40 ounce jar of peanut butter donated will give the student $40 to use towards citation fines.

  • 40.3 ounces will be counted as 40 ounces (ex. 40.3oz = $40).

Donation Info

  • Donations will only be accepted in person at the TPS office (4310 Elkhorn Ave) between the hours of 8am-4:30pm on October 4 - October 6 (Tues-Thurs). No online donations.
  • All peanut butter donations will be given to the local community.
  • The Peanut Butter for Parking program is open to anyone who has been issued a citation from TPS that meets the criteria above. This includes faculty, staff, student, and visitors.
  • Additional donations of non-perishable foods are welcome to be donated along with peanut butter, but will not count towards citation payment.
