Car-Sharing Service
Zipcar is a car-sharing service that students can reserve online or with a smartphone 24/7. Drivers pay only a low hourly or daily rate, gas and insurance included! Vehicles are limited to 180 miles per session, and must be returned to their pick up point at the end of the reservation.
Who Can Rent Zipcars?
All active Students, Faculty and Staff at least 18 years of age with a valid Driver's License are eligible to sign up for an ODU Zipcar account to reserve the ODU Zipcars. Your account also gives you access to hundreds of Zipcars all around Richmond, Washington D.C. and the rest of the nation!
What Does It Cost?
Reserving a Zipcar requires a membership account good for one year, currently only $25 (for the first year, $35/year for every year following) for incoming students! Reservations charge at a rate between $6-8 per hour, or $69-79 per day.

How to Use Zipcar
To start using Zipcars, you MUST register an account first. Access Zipcar's ODU website to create your account. ODU users must register with an ODU email address! Learn more before registering at www.zipcar.com/how/faqs.
Once you've registered your account to join the Zipcar community, it's as easy as
- Reserve your Zipcar- Find your Zipcar using the information in your reservation and confirm its "name" in the back window sticker.
- Unlock your Zipcar- Unlock the doors by waving your Zipcard in front of the box stuck to the inside of the windshield.
- Drive- Find the car keys inside a box on the side of the steering column and off you go!
