Asian Students in America (A.S.I.A.)

Mission

A.S.I.A.'s Mission: To Represent and vocalize the views of Asian identifying Students at Old Dominion University

1. Build a strong Asian community and family
2. Provide a comprehensive understanding of the Asian community
3. Strengthen bond between international Asian identifying students and domestic Asian identifying students

History

During the 2012-2013 academic year, the Office of Intercultural Relations (OIR), and student organizations Asian Pacific American Student Union (APASU), Filipino American Student Association (FASA), Chinese Cultural Language Club (CCLC), and Vietnamese Student Association (VSA) hosted a successful open house showcasing the diversity and inclusivity of the Asian community here at Old Dominion. This event provided all Monarchs, faculty, administrators, student leaders, and students included, with an opportunity to come together in celebration and recognition of the Asian identifying student organizations at Old Dominion University. A.S.I.A plans to continue expanding by encouraging the participation of other Asian identifying organizations on campus as well as garnering interest from a diverse monarch population. Please be sure to stay tuned for future A.S.I.A programs and events!
