Graduate Application Process

How to Apply

 

For information on admission or to apply, visit Old Dominion University Graduate Admission.

  • Complete the ODU Graduate application online. Do not send application materials to the School of Nursing. All application materials must be completed by the posted deadline for consideration for each concentration area.

  • Provide three references as indicated on the application form. The references should be former supervisors and faculty.
  • Request official copies of all your transcripts be sent to the graduate admissions office.
  • Submit a 500-700 word essay that addresses the applicant's goals and reasons for seeking admission to the program.
  • Submit a current resume that includes all work and education experience, as well as any scholarship or professional activity.

  • Complete the University Non-Degree Application. Online Application

  • Provide Transcript from graduate program (Nursing, PA, MBA or other)

  • Provide copies of all relevant licenses and certifications

  • Submit a 2-page essay describing interest in certificate program and career goals

  • Provide two letters of recommendation (Neonatal PA applicants must provide a recommendation letter from their sponsoring physician)

Fall Semester Start for All Programs

  • Family Nurse Practitioner - March 1st
  • Pediatric Nurse Practitioner - March 1st
  • Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner - March 15th
  • Nurse Midwifery - May 1st
  • Neonatal Nurse Practitioner - Completed applications are reviewed upon submission for Fall enrollment
  • Adult Gerontology Clinical Nurse Specialist/Educator - Completed applications are reviewed upon submission for Fall enrollment

Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) Programs

Spring Semester Start Unless Indicated

  • Nurse Anesthesia DNP Program  (Summer semester start): September 1st
  • Advanced Practice Post-Master's DNP - Priority Deadline for Spring enrollment: September 1st
  • Nurse Executive Post-Master's DNP
    • Priority Deadline for Spring enrollment: September 1st
