Graduate Research Achievement Day Features Presentations and Poster Exhibit

Many of the brightest graduate student researchers at Old Dominion shared their work for the third annual Graduate Research Achievement Day (GRAD) on April 11. More than 60 students participated in this year's GRAD event, which was created to honor and celebrate the excellent research of ODU's graduate students.

During the morning session, from 9 a.m. to noon, 15 students gave oral presentations in the Virginia Rice Webb Room of Webb Center. From noon to 2 p.m., 48 students shared their research through poster presentations displayed in the North Mall of Webb Center.

Of those 48 students, Mazin Abuharaz, a doctoral candidate in aerospace engineering, is shown in the photo above discussing his poster with Dean Oktay Baysal. His presentation was titled "State-Variables Model for Unsteady Two Dimensional Vortical Flow with Pressure Relaxation."

"This is an opportunity for students to share their research with the entire campus community, and to show the quality of graduate education here at ODU," said Brenda Neumon Lewis, associate vice president for graduate studies.
