Old Dominion University field hockey players Angie Loy and Melissa Leonetti have repeated as All-Americans, the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) announced Monday. Loy earned her second straight First Team All-America honor, while Leonetti was tabbed a Third Team All-American.

Loy, a standout midfielder for the Lady Monarchs throughout her career, was the 2003 CAA Player of the Year and CAA Tournament MVP. She completed her senior campaign leading the Lady Monarchs with 24 goals, 21 assists for a total of 69 points on the year. Loy finished her career ranked fourth in career goals (77), ninth in career assists (56), and fourth all-time in scoring with 210 career points. Also among her career highlights were being named 2000 CAA Rookie of the Year, three Team All-CAA selections, three NFHCA Academic All-American honors, and two First Team All-South honors. Her First Team All-America honor is Loy's second such distinction having earned the honor as well last season.

Leonetti, a mainstay of the Lady Monarch defense over the last four seasons, was named the CAA Defender of the Year in 2003. She ended her senior season with three goals, a team-second best 12 assists, and 18 total points. Defensively, Leonetti helped her Lady Monarch teams to shutouts over conference rivals William and Mary, Delaware, James Madison, Hofstra and Towson. For her career, Leonetti amassed 14 goals, 38 assists, and 66 points. She was a two-time First Team All-CAA selection and a two-time First Team All-South Region pick. Her honor marks her second All-America nod after receiving Second Team honors a year ago.

The Lady Monarchs finished the 2003 season 14-10 overall, 6-1 in the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA), and captured their eighth straight CAA title. Old Dominion participated in its 23rd consecutive NCAA Tournament and advanced to the second round of tournament play falling to eventual national runner-up Duke.
