MUSIC FACULTY MEMBERS WIN AWARDS
Old Dominion University music faculty members Adolphus Hailstork and Andrey Kasparov have been chosen to receive the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) Award.
The awards reflect the society's commitment "to assist and encourage ASCAP composers," according to an ASCAP press release." Awards are granted by an independent panel and based on the prestige value of each writer's catalog of original works, as well as recent performances in areas not surveyed by the society."
Judges included the drama critic for The Newark Star-Ledger newspaper, the West Coast bureau chief for Billboard magazine and the classical music critic for The Wall Street Journal.
