Winners of the 2018 International Photography Competition Announced

The Office of International Programs recently held its sixth annual International Photography Competition, which attracted entries from current and former members of the Old Dominion University community. Prizes were awarded to the top three photographs in each of five categories: flora and fauna, landscapes and scenes, lights and shadows, local people/local customs and monarch spirit.


Landscapes and Scenes:

  • 1st Place: "The Morning Light," by Sherrie Deutsch, taken inMilford Sound, New Zealand.
  • 2nd Place: "Red Light," by Veronica Vinas, taken in Rome, Italy.
  • 3rd Place : "Directions," by Chelsey Burch, taken in Tokyo, Japan.

Lights & Shadows

  • 1st Place: "Tidal Pool Sunset," by Sarah Crane, taken inMalpais, Costa Rica.
  • 2nd Place: "The Portara," by Solongo Tsolmon, taken in Naxos, Greece.
  • 3rd Place: "Campo Santo," by Kyla Crowley, taken inPisa, Italy.

Monarch Spirit

  • 1st Place: "Monarch in Greece," by Solongo Tsolmon, taken in Naxos, Greece.

Local People/Local Customs

  • 1st Place: "By the Bridges of Roma With You," by Veronica Vinas, taken inRome, Italy.
  • 2nd Place: "Bubbles," by Justin Remhof, taken inBarcelona, Spain.
  • 3rd Place: "Spital Fields," by Chelsey Burch, taken in London, United Kingdom.

Flora & Fauna of the World

  • 1st Place: "Blue Boobies Mating," by Tisha Paredes, taken in Galapagos Islands.
