Sabato Brings his "Crystal Ball" to Old Dominion U. in October Event

By Brendan O'Hallarn

As an unpredictable election season gathers steam, Old Dominion University's Friends of the ODU Libraries has invited a speaker to help forecast what will happen in November. He comes with his own "crystal ball."

Larry Sabato, founder and director of the University of Virginia Center for Politics and Robert Kent Gooch professor of politics at U.Va., will speak at Old Dominion Thursday, Oct. 13 in the Big Blue Room of the Ted Constant Convocation Center, beginning at 7 p.m. Tickets are $28 for general admission and $10 for students.

The appearance is a fundraiser for Friends of the ODU Libraries and one of several events aimed at increasing engagement in the lead-up to the Nov. 8 presidential election.

Sabato directs the Center for Politics' Crystal Ball website, a leader in predicting elections since its inception. Sabato will speak from his decades of experience studying politics to try to provide insight for voters.

A panel discussion will follow his talk.

For tickets or more information about the event, visit the University tickets website or contact the ODU Box Office at (757) 683-5305; Barbara Henley, director of planned giving with the Office of Development, at (757) 683-6563 or bhenley@odu.edu, or Sue Doviak, president of the Friends of the ODU Libraries, at (757) 683-3921 or sdoviak@odu.edu.

Friends of the ODU Libraries hosts a variety of events each year to help support the University Libraries, including a fall book sale and "meet the author" events.
