Old Dominion Shakespeare Organizers to be Featured on Local TV, Radio

Katherine Hammond, Old Dominion's director of theatre, will appear on WAVY TV's The Hampton Roads Show on Tuesday, April 12 to highlight the University's "Shakespeare 400 Years After" weeklong event running April 13-20.

Hammond is the organizer of the Much Ado Festival, which is part of the collaborative effort to mark the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare's death.

The Much Ado Festival includes all the stage and surprise pop-up performances, by various theatre groups, that will be part of the Shakespeare event. The plays selected for the festival are "Titus Andronicus," "Macbeth," "Henry V" and "The Two Gentlemen of Verona."

Hammond will be interviewed at the Goode Theatre (4601 Monarch Way) and the student players of ODURep will enact a scene from "Titus Andronicus" for The Hampton Roads Show cameras.

"Titus Andronicus" debuted April 6 at the Goode Theatre and will be performed through April 17. A schedule of all Shakespeare events can be found on the event website.

Hampton Roads Show viewers will be able to watch Hammond and the ODURep players at approximately 11:45 a.m. Tuesday, April 12. A link to the appearance will be posted later that day at WAVY.com.

Additionally, Hammond, lead Shakespeare event organizer Imtiaz Habib, professor of English; and Andrey Kasparov, associate professor of music, will appear on the radio program "HearSay with Cathy Lewis" on Monday, April 11 at noon.

That show can be heard on WHRV 89.5 FM and will be archived at the HearSay website.
