Chamber Consort Concert Advances Old Dominion Shakespeare Event

The Norfolk Chamber Consort concludes its 47th season Monday, April 11 with "Shakespeare 400 Years After," preceding Old Dominion University's week (April 13-20) of programming to mark the 400th anniversary of The Bard's death.
The concert will be presented at Chandler Recital Hall in the Diehn Center for the Performing Arts at 7:30 p.m. A pre-concert discussion led by Andrey Kasparov will start at 7:15 PM. A free reception following the concert will be provided by the Ghent restaurant The Green Onion.
The concert will feature performances of Shakespeare-inspired music by countertenor Scott Crissman and mezzo-soprano Stephanie Marx in their debut with the Norfolk Chamber Consort.
Soprano Elizabeth Hogue and mezzo-soprano Adriane Kerr also will perform, along with Consort co-artistic directors Kasparov and Oksana Lutsyshyn on piano.
The concert will conclude with the world premiere of Kasparov's concert paraphrase of Shostakovich's opera "Lady Macbeth of the Mtsensk District," performed by the Invencia Piano Duo.
