ODU Experts to Present at Higher Education Symposium
December 01, 2016
Old Dominion University's College of Continuing Education and Professional Development (CoCEPD) is sponsoring a Personal and Professional Development Symposium at the Southwest Virginia Higher Education Center in Abingdon on Saturday, Dec. 3.
It's part of a new program to connect with prospective students and others in the community interested in learning about the university and the college's offerings. Staff members will share their expertise in topics such as training simulations, building customer loyalty, career switching, and early childhood insights for parents and educators.
"We have such a variety of individuals with skills and knowledge that we can offer to a community. If this is well received, we are looking at taking the program to other parts of the Commonwealth." said the college's dean, James Shaeffer.
Dean Claud, the director of online program development for the CoCEPD, says the symposium in Abingdon will be the first for the college, which was created in 2013.
"The College of Continuing Education and Professional Development is excited to be making a direct connection with the Abingdon community and the Higher Education Center. It's great that we are building a partnership and are able to meet a need." Claud said.
The event is free and will run in four concurrent sessions. For more information, email rclaud@odu.edu or call 757-453-6867.
