President Broderick to Honor First Responders and Military Members at 9/11 Remembrance Event

President John R. Broderick and First Lady Kate Broderick will join with the Old Dominion University community to honor first responders and military service members at the "September 11th National Day of Service and Remembrance" event on Kaufman Mall.

President Broderick will deliver comments in a ceremony of recognition at 9 a.m. His remarks will be followed by a remembrance walk to Norfolk fire station 7 on 43rd St. There, the President and First Lady will present firefighters with a gift of appreciation on behalf of Old Dominion.

The event will continue at the fire station with a service project to benefit Operation Gratitude. Participants will compile care packages, make paracord bracelets and write letters of support to be distributed to deployed military men and women, first responders and military families.

Participants are asked to register in advance.
