ODU Alumna Dovile Budryte Named Recipient of University System of Georgia Award

Dovile Budryte, an Old Dominion University alumna, was recently named the recipient of a fiscal year 2015 Regents' Teaching Excellence Award for state colleges for the University System of Georgia.

Budryte graduated summa cum laude from ODU in 1998 and 2000 with master's and doctoral degrees in International Studies. She is currently an associate professor of political science at Georgia Gwinnett College.

A review committee unanimously recommended Budryte for the award, according to a notification letter sent to her by the Board of Regents of The University System of Georgia.

"The committee was particularly impressed with your philosophy of 'teaching with the students,'" the letter stated. "It is clear from your letters of recommendation and student comments that you go beyond classroom teaching, and serve as a mentor to both faculty peers and students."

The award will be presented in March 2015 at the annual Regents' Gala at the College Football Hall of Fame, in Atlanta.
