April 15, 2014

Old Dominion University President John R. Broderick will serve as a grand marshal Thursday at the YWCA South Hampton Roads' third annual "Walk A Mile In Her Shoes" event to raise sexual assault awareness.
During the event, which is held in commemoration of Sexual Assault Awareness Month, male community and civic leaders will show support for the cause by serving as grand marshals. To add to the fun of the event's theme, male and female participants are encouraged to wear high-heeled shoes for the walk.
Registration for "Walk A Mile In Her Shoes" begins at 11:30 a.m. at World Trade Center - 101 West Main Street, Norfolk. The program and walk will be held from noon to 1 p.m.
In addition to Broderick, the event's grand marshals include: Tom Hasty, senior executive vice president of Towne Bank; Bill Reid, chief operating officer of the United Way South Hampton Roads; Danny Rubin, account manager with Rubin Communications Group; Michael Goldsmith, chief of police for the City of Norfolk; Dr. Kirk T. Houston, senior pastor of Gethsemane Community Fellowship Baptist Church and Norfolk City School Board member; Mark Johnson, vice president of SunTrust Bank; and Chris Carroll, vice president of marketing and sales at Liberty Tax.
