Candidates for Dean of Strome College to Appear at Open Forums

Open forums with three candidates for dean of Old Dominion University's Strome College of Business will be held Dec. 9, 10 and 15, each in Constant Hall Room 2003.

Kathleen A. Getz, currently dean of the Michael R. Quinlan School of Business at Loyola University, Chicago, will offer comments and answer questions during an open forum at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 9. She has been at Loyola since 2011, previously serving in several positions, including senior associate dean, at American University's Kogod School of Business. Getz's Ph.D in Business Administration is from the University of Pittsburgh.

Kay M. Palan, currently dean and professor of marketing at Western Michigan University's Haworth College of Business, will be at an open forum at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 10. She has been at Western Michigan since 2010, previously working in a variety of positions at the Iowa State University College of Business. Palan's Ph.D. in Business is from Texas Tech University.

John F. (Jeff) Tanner Jr., currently professor of marketing and executive director of the Baylor Business Collaboratory at Baylor University's Hankamer School of Business, will be at an open forum at 1:45 p.m. Monday, Dec. 15. He served as associate dean of the Hankamer School from 2005 to 2012. Tanner's Ph.D. in Business Administration is from the University of Georgia.

Vinod Agarwal, professor of economics, has been interim dean of the Strome College since July 1, following the retirement of Dean Gil Yochum.

The business dean search committee has been chaired by Jane Bray, dean of ODU's Darden College of Education.
