Students Invited to 'Feed Their Brains' at Zombie-Themed Event
October 10, 2014
By this point of the semester, it's easy for a student to feel like a zombie, as two months of tests, assignments and term papers have the potential to be overwhelming.
Old Dominion University students who want to indulge their zombie-like feelings are invited to Learning Commons @ Perry Library for a Halloween-themed zombie event.
"The Walking Dead: Feed Your Brains" will be held Monday, Oct. 27 from 6-8 p.m. in the Learning Commons @ Perry Library.
Students choose between being a zombie, zombie hunter, or a survivor, and learn to navigate the twists and turns of research in order to stay alive. The two-hour hunt begins at 6 p.m. and includes games, trivia and other fun exercises.
The first student to get through the course in each track (zombie, hunter, survivor) will receive a prize. Dressing up as a zombie is encouraged. The event is free.
To keep up their strength, zombies will have access to cupcakes, snacks and 'brain' cake. A zombie exhibit will be provided, along with a research guide (http://guides.lib.odu.edu/zombies) to help orient students to the Libraries.
Feed Your Brains is sponsored by ODU Libraries, along with co-hosts including ODU's Student Government Association (SGA), the Starving Artists theatre troupe, Classroom Central/ITS, ODU Bookstore, Monarch Dining, the Student Success Center and ODU Health Promotions.
SGA will sponsor a prize wheel and games. The Starving Artists will sponsor a makeup table for $1. The prize for the winning zombie, zombie hunter and survivor is $20 in their Monarch Plus account.
