SuperScholar Website Ranks ODU’s Engineering Management Program Fifth in Nation

Old Dominion University's online engineering management program has been ranked fifth in the nation by SuperScholar, a Texas-based academic services company that provides independent rankings of universities nationwide on a variety of factors.

The website, designed to help consumers make the best choice about where to pursue an online engineering management degree, singled out ODU's Frank Batten College of Engineering and Technology because of its more than two decades of providing innovative distance learning programs.

"Engineers with a strong understanding of business, management and leadership are in high demand, and an online degree in engineering management from a top ranked university can help set yourself apart from the competition," SuperScholar wrote.

ODU, the website noted, "is a leader in distance learning, and the university offers a complete engineering management degree program online. ... Students can watch live streaming videos of their classes on a website, allowing them to interact with teachers in real time. They can also attend a combination of online and onsite classes."

The website also noted that U.S. News & World Report consistently gives ODU's engineering management programs Top 10 national rankings.

SuperScholar further cited the unique online engineering management master's degree program, targeted to service members in the U.S. Navy submarine fleet. The program provides material on disc because submarine crews are frequently on long deployments, away from even an Internet connection.

Purdue University topped the list of 25 colleges and universities ranked by SuperScholar.

SuperScholar is designed to help would-be university students find the right program to match their life and career goals by conducting independent assessments and ranking comparable schools based on how their programs meet the needs of particular student populations, such as online students, military-affiliated students and students with limited financial means.
