The Old Dominion University Concert Choir and Diehn Chorale are Performing for Veterans Day

Two concerts by the Old Dominion University Concert Choir and Diehn Chorale are being performed for Veterans Day.

The concert "Images of America," directed by Nancy Klein, will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 9 at Kempsville Presbyterian Church, 805 Kempsville Rd., in Virginia Beach.

The concert will be reprised on Sunday, Nov. 11 at 3 p.m. in the atrium of the Diehn Fine and Performing Arts Building on the ODU campus.

The program, performed by a 70-voice choir, consists of the music written by and for the people who built our nation, including spirituals, revivalist songs, folk songs and patriotic music.

The vocalists will be joined by Symphonic Artistry Wind Ensemble and the KPC Chancel Choir and orchestra for combined performances of "Hymn to the Fallen" from the movie Saving Private Ryan, and the stirring "Battle Hymn of the Republic."

The concerts are free and open to the public. Audience members who are veterans will be acknowledged and honored. Call 495-1913 (Kempsville Presbyterian Church) or 683-4061 (the ODU Concert Choir) for more information.

Please note there is construction around the Diehn building, and Elkhorn Avenue is currently closed. Parking is available at Garage G (by S.B Ballard Stadium) and also on the street. Please use the 49th Street Entrance to the building.
