Whether you are a prospective student needing vital information to help narrow university options, or a current student needing advice on classes, internships, graduation or job opportunities, the F. Ludwig Diehn School of Music is here to meet your needs.
The F. Ludwig Diehn School of Music is housed in the F. Ludwig Diehn Center for the Performing Arts. In 2014, Old Dominion University opened a new addition to the Diehn Center for the Performing Arts. See the F. Ludwig Diehn School of Music Facilities page for complete details.
About the F. Ludwig Diehn School of Music
Freshman Students
The ODU Department of Music offers excellent degree programs, courses, faculty, staff, and a wonderful learning environment, each contributing to student success. Our degree programs present a comprehensive curriculum while allowing multiple opportunities for students to explore particular interests.
Transfer Students
With the exception of the BA, all programs in the Department of Music require an audition, or in the case of composition, a portfolio review, to be fully accepted into the major. Transfer students are encouraged to review the entrance requirements for your major and prepare the semester before they plan to enter ODU.
Graduate Students
The Master of Music Education degree is designed to stress the development of advanced knowledge of broad-based principles and practices in music and music education for application in the public or private school, private studio, or higher education setting. Virginia Department of Education teacher licensure is not included with this degree.
