ODU Wind Ensemble
Dr. Tyler Austin, Conductor and Director of Bands

We are thrilled that Dr. Tyler Austin joins ODU and the Diehn School of Music as the Director of Bands and Conductor of the ODU Wind Ensemble startng in the 2022-23 academic year! Dr. Austin is an experienced music educator, an accomplished conductor and bassoonist, and is an excellent addition to the Diehn School of Music faculty. Dr. Austin is also the Artistic Director and Conductor of the Maryland Chamber Winds.
The ODU Wind Ensemble is comprised of fifty of the finest wind and percussion musicians at Old Dominion University, and is dedicated to performing traditional concert band literature as well as new works just entering the repertoire. The Wind Ensemble performs multiple concerts on campus and additional concerts off-campus each semester, including tours, conferences, and outreach performances. Membership is open to all ODU students regardless of major.
