Remembering Marilyn Forman, Piano Instructor

On Monday, September 19th, 2022, we suddenly lost our teacher, friend and colleague, Mrs. Marilyn Forman. She has been with the COMMUNITY Music Division since 1985 as a piano instructor to students of all ages. Marilyn was a graduate of Temple University with a Master of Music in Piano Pedagogy and received her Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance from University of California at Santa Barbara. In 1991 she became Old Dominion University's class piano instructor and a teacher of applied piano lessons to music majors. She was an active member of professional music organizations including the American College of Musicians and Music Teachers National Association. Marilyn was the acting Theory Chairman for the Tidewater Music Teachers Forum since 1998, with state tests administered here on campus at Webb Center. She was nationally certified through the Music Teachers National Association for her excellence, in piano teaching. She touched and influenced many lives of students, faculty, and friends throughout our region and beyond and will be greatly missed. We honored her in the September 25th, 2022, student recital was dedicated in memory.
