Mechanical & Aerospace EngineeringAdvisory Council

Mission

The Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering Advisory Council (MAEAC) advises the department on academic and professional issues pertaining to the undergraduate programs. The goals of MAEAC as they relate to the undergraduate program are to:

  1. review the B.S.M.E. degree program and provide suggestions and input for program objectives,
  2. help the Department become aware of the educational needs of the technical community served,
  3. provide strategies for developing linkages with the technical community which will result in opportunities for collaboration, and
  4. help the Department in developing long-range plans which will assist in identifying future initiatives/direction.

The Advisory Council is composed of professionals, many holding managerial or supervisory positions, from industrial companies and federal organizations located in the Southeastern region of Virginia. A significant percentage, if not majority, of Department graduates from Old Dominion University are employed in the Southeastern region of Virginia.

The MAEAC members bring their broader perspectives, and they have been very active in recent years in the formulation, assessment and evaluation of the undergraduate program objectives. The Council meets twice a year during the Fall and Spring semesters.
