Monarchs Reign at Old Dominion University

We are Monarchs—but we do not consider ourselves to be rulers without equal. Our sovereignty has always been claimed through the diversity of thought that marches through our community. We are first-generation students, fourth-generation veterans and the next generation of risk-taking entrepreneurs who will invent our own tables instead of waiting for a seat at another's. Let's build our dominion of possibility with shared purpose and resilience. There's a palpable energy that is created by every interaction that yields even greater results than we can accomplish individually. Because nothing's more valuable than the history we make together. Reign on.

ODU's Department of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering professor, Krishnanand N. Kaipa, Ph.D., talks about the Biologically Inspired Robotics course where students borrow inspiration from animals to design adaptive robots.

MAE Students Place 3rd in International SAE Aero Design Competition

ODU Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering students placed third among roughly 40 teams in an international SAE Aero Design competition.

ODU Military: Meet Brian

Brian enlisted in the U.S. Navy at 18. Today, he is a Mechanical Engineering student at Old Dominion University. Brian participates in the Stern2STEM program at ODU, which helps Veterans successfully complete degrees in the Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) workforce. Brian chose ODU because of its strong engineering program and its reputation for being a military friendly university.

Cold Plasma Technology Meets Mechanobiology in the Fight Against Cancer

Working Across Departments to Find Medical Breakthroughs - In the world of biomedical research, collaboration is key. When that research is combined with educating the next generation of scientist and engineers, such collaboration is even more important.
