The Office of Intercultural Relations' LGBTQIA+ Initiatives strives to provide students, faculty, staff, and members of the Hampton Roads area a community where they can be free and confident in expressing their identities. OIR strives to reduce homophobia, transphobia, and heterosexism in the Old Dominion University community through educational and interactive programming, mentorship, and LGBT advocacy.
The Queer Resilience Coalition (QRC) strengthens and amplifies the voices of the ODU LGBTQIA+ student community through its advisory role to the Coordinator for the LGBTQIA+ Initiatives at the Office of Intercultural Relations (OIR) and the LGBTQIA+ Student Success Lead. In its advising role, the QRC will offer suggestions for improving current programming, events, and services on campus, and will also provide recommendations for new initiatives to strengthen the network of support across campus units. The QRC will also raise awareness of LGBTQIA+ culture, community, and voice through the creation and dissemination of the Q-ODU Zine.
