Bad Movie Night is Cancelled for April 2024

Due to travel plans for the upcoming solar eclipse, we will have to cancel the upcoming April edition of Bad Movie Night. Unfortunately, we are unable to simply adjust the date because of other planned travel and our director is assisting with planning the Virginia State Science and Engineering Fair. Don't fret, we'll return to our regularly scheduled program on May 3.

Cancelled - Friday, April 5

Returning on May 3 with 1956's "Invasion of the Body Snatchers"

Naro Minded Slider

NARO Minded

NARO MINDED - A regular series of free public screenings of cult favorites and new releases.

In 2020, Ghent's own Naro Video made the tough decision to close it's doors. In doing so, they donated over 42,000 movies to the ODU Libraries. (See the article here.) As the full Naro Expanded Video collection gets ever closer to being unveiled at ODU, we have partnered with their Naro Minded movie series.

  • 7:00 - Preshow
  • 7:30 - Showtime
  • Free admission C/O Old Dominion University Libraries
  • Please limit your food or drink. Candy, water, and resealable bottles are fine. (We have a brand new planetarium and want to keep it clean.)

The Unknown Country

Tuesday, March 26

Free screening with virtual guest, writer/director Morrisa Maltz.

For our next reverie in the artificial skies of ODU's Le Planetarium, we're screening THE UNKNOWN COUNTRY, a beautifully shot, lyrical road movie through flyover country anchored by a delicate performance by Lily Gladstone (Winning her top honors at the 2023 Gotham Awards). After the screening, we'll be joined virtually by the film's writer and director Morrisa Maltz for a discussion on the film, moderated by ODU Film Studies professor Dr. Najmeh Moradiyan-Rizi.

"Reeling from a devastating loss, Tana (Lily Gladstone) is pulled back into the world by an unexpected invitation to her cousin's wedding. She packs up her late grandmother's Cadillac and hits the open road, driving from her home in Minnesota to South Dakota... A personal reverie summoned from a beguiling mix of fact and fiction, The Unknown Country is an arresting debut feature from Morrisa Maltz." - Music Box Films
