What is a Project

A project is defined as a temporary endeavor undertaken by or on behalf of Old Dominion University that:

  1. Has a clearly defined beginning and ending date;
  2. Provides tangible and unique technology products or services;
  3. Fulfills a defined business objective to substantially improve business processes to a department or to the university;

Tier 1 - Small Project

  1. The project charter
  2. Project resource forecasts
  3. PRT risks score
  4. Procedural approval from PRT and portfolio review (directors)
  5. Documented project kick-off
  6. A basic plan
  7. Project status updates

8 - 11

Tier 2 - Intermediate Project
Additional documentation:

  1. Requires CIO approval
  2. Timeline and resource updates
  3. Closure agreement from sponsor

12 - 15

Tier 3 - Large Project
Additional documentation:

  1. Detailed project plan
  2. Formal communication plan
