Where are you located?

The mail center is located in the Facilities Management building across from the ODU tennis courts. The street address is 4401 Powhatan Avenue.


Do you sell stamps?

The Mail Center does NOT sell stamps. For information about procuring stamps for your University department, see Stamp Purchasing.


Where can I buy stamps near campus?

ODU Monarch Market and the ODU Credit Union sell stamps by the book. The two local 7-Elevens sell individual stamps and by the book.


Can I mail my personal mail through the Mail Center?

The Mail Center accepts only personal letter mail that has a stamp and a return address on it.


My son/daughter is a student at ODU but they are not getting the mail I send them. Is their mail being held there?

All mail for students is delivered by the U.S. Postal Service. We do not pick up or deliver student mail. See Student Mail & Packages for more information about sending mail to your ODU student. Problems with student mail can be addressed with Housing at 757-683-4283.


I am moving to a new office. Who do I notify?

Do you have shipping and mailing supplies?

The Mail Center has all the Priority and Express envelopes and boxes used by the U.S. Postal Service. We also have brown wrapping paper and mailing tape for your use. We do not stock boxes or filling material such as bubble wrap.


Do you have any Inter-Deparment envelopes?

Yes, the Mail Center can provide you with Inter-Department envelopes.


Do you do overnight, next day delivery mailing?

The Mail Center utilizes the U.S. Postal Service Express Mail for this purpose. Some rural zip codes may take a little longer so call us with the zip code if you are concerned.


What is the cheapest way to send a box or package?

If merchandise, Parcel Post. If books, Media Mail.


What is the latest time I can bring mail to the Mail Center and have it go out today?

3:00 PM


How long does Priority Mail take?

Priority Mail is delivered in 2-3 days.


Do I need a customs form for International Mail?

International Mail over 16 oz. requires a customs form. Mail to Puerto Rico and Guam do not need a customs form, as they are U.S. territories and their mail is considered domestic mail.


Do you provide FedEx or UPS services?

No. You can send items via FedEx at the University Bookstore (757-683-0048). You can send pre-paid packages via UPS at the Facilities Management Warehouse (757-683-6289).
