Content Management

Adobe Experience Manager (AEM), is the University's Web Content Management System (WCMS). The WCMS moves the focus of managing website content away from the technical end and allows a greater focus on the communications end and developing quality content for website users and visitors.

ODU Website Philosophy

  • The ODU website is the University's largest, most widely-used communication tool and repository of information. Its primary focus is its use as a communications tool.
  • The ODU website is a user-focused environment where content and navigation is focused on the intended audience, regardless of University organizational structure, promoting strategic integration of content across organizational structure.
  • Website users should experience the ODU website as one cohesive unit rather than a patchwork of separate entities.
  • Website users should be able to easily understand website content - content managers should avoid "institution speak."
  • Every piece of website content should come from a single, authoritative source that is maintained solely by the content owners.
  • Each piece of website content should be created in only one place, but can be reused where needed via WCMS functionality.
  • The ODU website should maintain a high degree of accessibility and compliance.
