Annette Finley-Croswhite, Ph.D. is the Director of the Center for Faculty Development. She earned her B.A. from the University of Richmond in Virginia and her Ph.D. from Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. She is an award-winning Professor of History at Old Dominion University where she has also served as both Chair of History and Associate Dean in the College of Arts and Letters. In 2015, she was named "University Professor," a distinction that recognizes her outstanding contribution to teaching at Old Dominion University. That same year she also won the "Provost's Award for Excellence in International Education."

Dr. Finley-Croswhite is committed to active learning in the classroom. She constantly tries new teaching strategies to help students succeed and promotes high impact practices. Her many workshops and "Salons" offer Old Dominion University faculty multiple avenues to share their knowledge, improve their teaching skills, and engage in critical discussions about faculty life and professional development. Her door is always open to offer support and mentorship.

Dr. Finley-Croswhite's scholarly work is focused on the history of political and religious violence in France. She has published two books and many articles on the French wars of religion, French right-wing political movements, terrorism, and the history of medicine. A new book co-authored with Dr. Gayle K. Brunelle, Assassination in Vichy: Marx Dormoy and the Struggle for the Soul of France will be published in 2020 by the University of Toronto Press. She is also developing a new pedagogical focus in her scholarship and exploring strategies for teaching difficult subjects in the 21st-century.

Dr. Finley-Croswhite has an interest in travel and historical landscapes. She has developed several Holocaust-themed study abroad courses based in France, Poland or both and travels with students to "un-silence" difficult pasts. Dr. Finley-Croswhite engages in community service, especially by promoting Holocaust education to a variety of constituencies. She is an elected member of the Tidewater chapter of the Virginia Center for Inclusive Communities and a Fellow of the Auschwitz Jewish Center in Oświęcim, Poland.

Kristal Kinloch-Taylor is the Educational Program Developer for the Center for Faculty Development. Ms. Kinloch-Taylor earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the City University of Queens College. She earned two Master's Degrees, one in Education and the second in Journalism, from Regent University in Virginia Beach. Ms. Kinloch-Taylor is currently enrolled in Mississippi State University's Doctor of Philosophy in Instructional System and Workforce Development program.

Ms. Kinloch-Taylor has worked as an administrator in higher education for over a decade. Some of the positions she has held at various universities include serving as the Assistant Director of Student Support at Regent University, Director of Enrollment Management & Military Affairs at Hampton University. Prior to joining the Center for Faculty Development, Ms. Kinloch-Taylor served as the Director of Old Dominion University's Military Connection Center supporting the success of military-affiliated students.

As the Educational Program Developer, Ms. Kinloch-Taylor assists the Director of Faculty Development with the planning, development, coordination, management, and assessment of various professional development activities, programs, and commitment to active learning strategies. Ms. Kinloch-Taylor researches, develops, facilitates, and assesses programs to assist Old Dominion University faculty development. She brings insight from her 11 years of experience as an adjunct instructor at Bryant & Stratton College, Tidewater Community College, and Hampton University along with skills acquired serving as an Instructional Designer with North Carolina Agricultural & Technical State University to her role as the Educational Program Developer.
