Flipped Classrooms: A Large Class Perspective

Flipped classrooms are a way of introducing active learning and leveraging online/digital resources to move classes beyond the traditional lecture model. This method has had success in improving critical thinking and problem-solving skills and, in turn, raising exam scores. This method is thought of as a tool for small classes, but in this seminar we will discuss how the model has been successfully implemented in the ODU Chemistry and Biochemistry Department for classes up to 300 students in both classroom and online settings. We will cover class design and preparation as well as mechanics in the classroom and student assessment.
