Recyclable materials from the university campus are collected in five regularly scheduled service routes, comprised of interior and exterior building sites. Special Pickups are scheduled separately and are not on the scheduled service routes. Once collected, all materials are transported back to the University Recycling Center for processing.

To request any of the below Recycling Department services, please call our office at (757) 683-3005 or e-mail Harvey Logan at hlogan@odu.edu

Staples, binder clips and metal clips may be left on the documents. After shredding, the paper is bundled for recycling.

Recycling bins can be provided to accommodate any special event on campus, such as: Student Move-In/Move-Out, University sports games, events at the Ted, small private events, and more.

Contact us to schedule a special pickup, get more information, or request a bin.

Every winter when new phonebooks are distributed, extra recycling bins for the old phonebooks are placed at various locations around campus. Generally, these bins can be found near where the new phonebooks are being distributed. If you only have a few books for recycling, they can be dropped into a regular recycle bin.

Contact us for questions regarding the location of the nearest bin for your department.

Recycling bins are available upon request for office or departmental clean-outs and moves. Please remember, these bins are for recycling and should only be used for recyclable materials. Trash should be placed in the appropriate containers. See Where & What to Recycle for a list of acceptable materials.

Contact us to request recycling bins for your clean-out or move.

All materials collected from campus are processed at the University Recycling Center, where the recyclables are separated, sorted and eventually shipped out to local vendors. Reusable materials are also stored in the University Recycling Center for benefit of use by the campus community.
