Old Dominion University recognizes the inherent value of equity and diversity in the classroom, workplace, and community by honoring individual "Champions of Diversity" with the John R. Broderick Diversity Champion Award.
2022 Recognition Presentation
The John R. Broderick Diversity Champion Award honors and celebrates individuals who encourage and advance the principles of equity and diversity, to promote the positive impact diversity has upon our University community. Seventeen members of the community, representating students, staff and faculty members, were honored at the 2022 awards ceremony, held April 15th both virtually and in person. Presenting the awards were President Brian Hemphill, Ph.D., and September Sanderlin, Vice President for Human Resources. Dr. Veleka Gatling, Assistant Vice President of Equity and Diversity, hosted the event.

2023 nominations may be submitted beginning December 2022 through February 28th, 2023. The 2023 awards ceremony will be held in April.
