As the region's only public urban research university, the Batten College of Engineering and Technology is an incubator for innovation, discovery and entrepreneurship. We encourage big ideas and creative thinking as we help students discover new ways to solve real-world problems in a wide range of fields. From advanced manufacturing to battling cancer; transportation to cybersecurity; renewable energy to marine engineering; plasmas to nanomaterials, artificial intelligence to robotics, we provide a significant share of the research and development within Old Dominion University through research centers, laboratories, institutes, and clusters, while greatly contributing to the regional, national, and international prosperity of humanity.
