Dr. Jiang Li

Dr. Jiang Li

Associate Professor, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, ODU

Dr. Jiang Li is an Associate Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Old Dominion University (ODU). He received his Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from the University of Texas at Arlington, TX, in 2004, the M.S. degree in automation from Tsinghua University, China, in 2000, and the B.S. degree in electrical engineering from Shanghai Jiaotong University, China, in 1992. His research interests include applied machine learning with applications in computer-aided medical diagnosis, medical signal/image processing, and remote sensing image processing. Dr. Li has published more than 100 journal and conference papers. He worked as a postdoctoral fellow at the department of radiology, National Institutes of Health, from 2004 to 2006. He joined ODU as an assistant professor in Spring 2007. Dr. Li is a senior member of the IEEE.



Dr. Chung Hao Chen

ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR

Dr. Chung-Hao Chen received his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville in August 2009, and his B.S. and M.S. in Computer Science and Information Engineering from Fu-Jen Catholic University, Taiwan in 1997 and 1999, respectively. After receiving his M.S. degree, he was enlisted in National Military Academy from 1999 to 2001 to fulfill his civil duty/military service. In April 2001, he joined the Panasonic Taiwan Laboratory Company, Ltd. as a research and development engineer where he remained until August 2003. In August 2009, he joined in the department of Math and Computer Science at North Carolina Central University as an assistant professor. Since August 2011, he is an assistant professor in the department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Old Dominion University.



Dr. Linda Vahala

Dr. Linda Vahala

Associate Professor

Received her BS degree from the University of Illinois in 1969, the MS degree from the University of Iowa in 1971, and the Ph.D from Old Dominion University in 1983. Her publications include articles in both plasma physics and atomic physics with an emphasis on laser interactions with plasma and with neutral/rare gas collisions. She has presented her work at various international workshops and meetings, both in Europe and in the United States. She is a guest worker at the Molecular Spectroscopy Division at the National Bureau of Standards (Gaithersburg, MD). Dr. Vahala joined Old Dominion University as an Assistant Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering in the Fall of 1987, and she is currently an Associate Professor.

Md. Reshad Ul

MD. RESHAD UL

Md. Reshad Ul received his BS degree in Electronic and Communication Engineering (ECE) from Khulna University of Engineering and Technology, Bangladesh, his MS degree in Electrical Engineering from Lamar University, USA. Currently, he is working toward his PhD degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering at Old Dominion University, USA. His research interests include machine learning, deep learning, Natural Image Processing, digital image processing, Computer Vision and computer-aided detection.


Daniel Perez Ibanez

DANIEL PEREZ

Daniel Perez was born in Madrid, Spain in 1994. He received the B.S. degree in computer engineering from Old Dominion University, Norfolk VA, in 2016. He was the top graduate student in computer engineering during the 2015-2016 academic year. He is currently a graduate research assistant and Ph.D. student in the Department of Modeling, Simulation, and Visualization Engineering. His research is focused on the areas of deep learning, image processing, computer graphics, visualization and virtual/augmented reality. To this day, he is the author of 13 papers mainly in the areas of deep learning and image processing. Mr. Daniel Perez was the recipient of the Gene Newman Award for excellence in modeling & simulation research in 2018.


Kazi Aminul Islam

KAZI AMINUL ISLAM

Kazi Aminul Islam received his BS degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Khulna University of Engineering and Technology, Bangladesh, his MS degree in Electrical Engineering from Lamar University, USA. Currently, he is working toward his PhD degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering at Old Dominion University, USA. His research interests include machine learning, deep learning, digital image processing and computer-aided detection.


Yan Lu

YAN LU

Yan Lu received her BS degree in Computer Science from Beijing Jiaotong University, her MS degree in Circuit and System from Chinese Academy of Sciences, and MS degree in Computer Science from Virginia Commonwealth University. She is currently working toward her PhD degree in Modeling, Simulation and Visualization at Old Dominion University. Her research interests include artificial intelligence, deep learning, machine learning, and remote image processing.
