Auxiliary Business Services ITS


The main objective of Information Technology Services (ITS) is to provide and support high-quality, cost-effective computing and communications services to meet the needs of the University community.


The general responsibilities of the GA will include, but not be limited to:

  • Work with Research Analysts to understand their data needs, explore public, 3rd party and alternative datasets and translate into data/information solutions and data products

  • Create, productionize and store enhanced and original data sets; improve data analysis and discovery tools

  • Contribute to the development of "Analyst Workspace" with integrated data and analytical tools

  • Coordinate product development in partnership with Data Science & Analytics and CIB Technology teams

  • Performs entry-level technical support of IT enabled spaces and including IT equipment upgrades, testing, and replacements. Troubleshooting and diagnosing hardware and software related issues.

  • Experience accessing data through APIs and databases


  • Bachelor's degree or higher in a IT or CS field (e.g. Information technology, Engineering, Operations Research, other Data Science/Analytics fields)

  • Excellent communication, presentation, interpersonal and organizational skills

  • Detail oriented, with a highly disciplined approach to process and controls

  • Proficient with Word, Excel, and Publisher.

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral

  • You have a strong work ethic and are able to work on own and coordinate with other teams

Knowledge and skills derived from experience

  • Experience accessing data through APIs and databases

  • Proficiency with scripting in any of the following or similar languages (SQL,Pl/SQL, Powershell, Ruby, Perl, Python, Bash)

  • Experience with a data visualization platform, such as Tableau

  • Strong analytical skills and ability to learn complex data science concepts

Hours and Wage

The GA position requires 20 hours per week on an established schedule that fits with the student's course demands, which will include weekdays, weeknights, weekends, and some holidays. A stipend of $10,000 will be paid over the fall and spring semesters. There is a 50% tuition and fees waiver for eligible out-of-state students. Funding for professional development opportunities is also provided. Summer employment may be available. Employment contract runs December 15, 2021 through May 9, 2022 and may be renewed for a second year based on performance evaluation.
