Undergraduate Computing Labs

CS 101 - Dragas Hall, 1105

The CS 101 Lab is mainly used for CS 101, CS 120, and CS 121 courses. It consists of 47 machine with the following specifications:

  • Intel Core i7 CPU
  • 16GB of RAM
  • 128GB Solid-State Disk
  • All-in-One 24" 1920x1080p monitor

In addition to these machines, the room also features a MakerBot Replicator Desktop 3D Printer.

Teaching Lab - Dragas Hall, 1115

The Teaching Lab is used for mid-to-higher level CS courses that require individual student machines. These include courses such as CS150, CS250, CS330, and CS350. The room is equipped with 49 machines of the following specifications:

  • Intel Core i7 CPU
  • 16GB of RAM
  • 500GB Solid-State Hybrid Disk
  • 24" 1920x1080p monitor

Problem Solving Lab - Dragas Hall, 1103G

The Problem Solving lab is a public computing lab for Computer Science students. It is equipped with 42 machines of the following specifications:

  • Intel Core i7 CPU
  • 8GB of RAM
  • 500GB Solid-State Hybrid Drive
  • 24" 1920x1080p monitor

In addition to the regular Windows 7 build, there are two Ubuntu 14.04 machines available for use.

Open Research Lab - E&CS 3104

The Open Research lab is a public computing lab for Computer Science students when there isn't a class scheduled. This is the only Undergraduate lab located in E&CS. The room is equipped with 27 machines of the following specifications:

  • 16GB of RAM
  • 500GB Solid-State Hybrid Drive
  • 24" 1920x1080 monitor

Lecture Rooms

E&CS 2120 - Access Grid

The Access Grid is equipped with a teaching machine that drives two 100" projectors at 1920x1080p. The room also features wall-to-wall whiteboards, making it a great room the teach graduate-level CS and math courses.

Dragas Hall, 1117

While not technically a Computer Science Department Facility, many CS courses are taught in this lecture hall. It features two projectors, and room for about 100 students. The room is currently managed by Classroom Central.

Datacenters

E&CS 3314 - Datacenter

The E&CS Datacenter is the main datacenter for the Computer Science Department. This datacenter is equipped with the following technologies:

  • 10 virtual machine hosts with a cumulative 1.25 TB of RAM and 500GHz of processor power
  • 100TB of raw storage for virtual machines, fileserving and archiving
  • 3 Computer-based clusters
  • 4 GPU-based computation machines
  • Fully redundant 10GBit networking

Dragas Hall 1103H - Datacenter

The Dragas Datacenter is the redundant datacenter for the Department of Computer Science. While it mostly is there for failover, it does host many services. The datacenter is equipped with the following technologies:

  • 10 virtual machine hosts with a cumulative 1.25 TB of RAM and 500GHz of processor power
  • 100TB of raw storage for virtual machines, fileserving and archiving
  • One computer-based cluster
  • Fully redundant 10GBit networking

Other Facilities

E&CS 3300 - Main Office

The CS main office handles the day-to-day operations of the Department's office-related needs. The office has 3 full-time employees handling a variety of tasks, as well as several student workers. In addition, the main office houses the Chair's office, as well as the Chair's private conference room.

E&CS 3316 - Main Conference Room

The main conference room is used by the CS faculty and staff for presentations and meetings. The room is equipped with four machines that are able to display output to any of the two projectors or two televisions in the room. In addition, the room is setup for phone call conferencing, as well as web-conferencing using a Logitech webcam.

E&CS 3109 - Small Conference Room

The small conference room is used for small meetings of no more than a handful of individuals. It includes one presentation machine, one 60" 1920x1080p television, one webcam for webconferencing, and one IP telephone for call conferencing.
