Gymama Slaughter, Ph.D.
Executive Director, Center for Bioelectronics
Gymama Slaughter is the Executive Director of the Center for Bioelectronics. She is an Associate Professor in Old Dominion University's Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. Slaughter received her Ph.D. and M.S. degrees from the Virginia Commonwealth University. Her research focuses on the integration of micro and nanofabrication concepts with life science principles to develop innovative devices to deliver therapuetics to target sites within the body to enable the body to heal. Specific research areas include biosensors and bioelectronics, BioMEMS, cell-instructive adhesive materials for regenerative medicine, wound healing, and biomaterials for modulating inflammation and infection.
