Locate an Advisor

Important Advisor Information

Students are to meet with their advisor every Fall and Spring semester.

Before your appointment, you will need a printed copy of your Degree Works (Software hosted in each student's Leoonline account showing a list of required courses for their listed major(s), and minor(s) if applicable, merged with the transcript). A step by step on how to access your Degree Works is located here.

Unless otherwise noted, all of our advisors use the MyAdvisor online appointment system for appointment scheduling. This system is open to all active degree seeking students.

  • (If you have been out of school for more than one calendar year, you will need to reactivate with ODU Admissions before you can be advised so that your academic record is reactivated and viewable by advisor.)
  • If you have problems using the system, please contact the ODU IT HelpDesk at 757-683-3192 or send an email to itshelp@odu.edu for troubleshooting assistance.

If any of these cases are applicable for you then also look for your advisor below.

  • This is my first semester at ODU (freshman or transfer)
  • I have less than a 2.0 overall or CBK cumulative GPA
  • I am changing my major from a non-business major to business
  • I am a business major with less than 30 credit hours applied to the business degree program
  • I am a business major with more than 80 credit hours applied to the business degree program

If you are a business major with more than 30 but less than 80 credit hours applied to the business degree program, look here for additional advising information.

  • Credentials: M.S.Ed. (Counseling)
  • Why I love my job: I am blessed to have the opportunity to facilitate the growth and development of students from transition into college until transition into their chosen careers.
  • Words I live by: "Every day is lost in which we do not learn something useful. Man has no nobler or more valuable possession than time." - Thomas Jefferson

Tina Bogdanowicz

  • Primary responsibilities: Provide advising and programming for SCB undergraduate students
  • Credentials: M.S. Ed (Counseling)
  • Why I love my job: I enjoy helping students reach their career goals. I love hearing their success stories.
  • Words I live by: "Nothing too much"

Petra Szonyegi

Student Success Advisor

  • Primary responsibilities: Advise first-year students in the College of Business. Teach UNIV 110. Business Living Learning Community Faculty Partner.
  • Credentials: M. S. Ed. in Higher Education Leadership (from ODU) and B.A. in International Studies and Political Science (also from ODU). Fun fact I'm ODU's 2017 Kaufman Scholar.
  • Why I love my job: I'm going into my 10th year being at/working at ODU, moving up from part-time student staff positions in various offices, graduate assistantships, to my 4th year being full-time faculty here and over the years ODU has become a home away from home to me, since my entire family is in Hungary. Having been an international student (and now international faculty), there were always ODU faculty there for me when I went through difficult times and now I want to be that support system for students myself.
  • Words I live by: "Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?... Do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself."
