Faculty project awarded Defense University Research Instrumentation Program (DURIP) funding
January 2022
Prof. Chinqi Jiang and her team
Professor Chunqi Jiang received funds from AFOSR to acquire an Advanced Laser Scattering System. This DURIP program is to support fundamental diagnostic studies of nanosecond-pulsed plasma sources, and to enable and enhance the educational experience of the students and researchers at the Center for Bioelectrics Plasma and Pulsed Power Laboratory, led by Dr. Jiang, to conduct related plasma research. Nanosecond-pulsed plasma sources are the front runners for a broad range of applications including chemical synthesis, plasma assisted combustion, disinfection against bacteria and virus, and cancer therapy. Fundamental understanding of the plasma sources is vital to the success of various applications. The program will help enhance the valuable experience for ODU graduate, undergraduate students as well as postdocs who are engaged in the related basic research projects.
