Institutional Effectiveness & Assessment:Academic Assessment

The purpose of assessment is to collect meaningful and actionable data that leads to academic improvements for both faculty and students. In pursuit of the the university's goal to maintain a high quality educational experience for our students, assessment is a tool that ensures we are actively pursing those goals.

The following framework organizes and outlines the process of assessment:

  1. Establish clear, measureable expected outcomes of student learning.

  2. Ensure that students have sufficient opportunities to achieve those outcomes.

  3. Systematically gather, analyze, and interpret evidence to determine how well students are meeting our expectations.

  4. Use the resulting information to understand and improve student learning (Suskie, 2014).

Academic assessment reports should be submitted through Weave annually by September 30th.
