It is highly recommended that students begin the Music Performance Minor in the first semester of their freshman year.

Program Highlights


What makes Music Performance at ODU unique?

  • All applied music courses are taught by experienced, professional, performing faculty, 18 full time, 35 adjunct.

  • Recital is not required for composition and performance minors.

  • Performance minor can be earned entirely by taking lessons, performing in ensembles and attending specific music events.

  • Many performance opportunities in a vibrant arts community on and off campus including several competitions.

  • Pairs well with virtually any ODU major.
