This program allows exceptionally successful students to earn both a bachelor's and master's degree in computer science. Up to 12 credits of graduate coursework may be counted toward both their undergraduate and master's degrees in computer science. Students must earn a minimum of 150 credit hours (120 for the undergraduate degree and 34 for the graduate degree).

Count 12 graduate-level credit hours towards both the BSCS & MS degrees. After completing the BSCS, only 22 graduate credit hours remain for the MS, which can be completed in one academic year

May monitor and test Web site performance to ensure Web sites operate correctly and without interruption. May assist in network modeling, analysis, planning, and coordination between network and data communications hardware and software. May supervise computer user support specialists and computer network support specialists. May administer network security measures.
MEDIAN SALARY
Research, design, develop, and test operating systems-level software, compilers, and network distribution software for medical, industrial, military, communications, aerospace, business, scientific, and general computing applications. Set operational specifications and formulate and analyze software requirements. May design embedded systems software. Apply principles and techniques of computer science, engineering, and mathematical analysis.
Graduates from this major have gone to work at
Laboratory work required. Introduction to concepts, principles, challenges, and research in major areas of AI. Areas of discussion include: natural language and vision processing, machine learning, machine logic and reasoning, robotics, expert and mundane systems.
This course will explore data science as a burgeoning field. Students will learn fundamental principles and techniques that data scientists employ to mine data. They will investigate real life examples where data is used to guide assessments and draw conclusions. This course will introduce software and computing resources available to a data scientist to process, visualize, and model different types of data including big data. Cross-listed with DASC 600.
An overview of the World Wide Web and associated decentralized information structures, focusing mainly on the computing aspects of the Web: how it works, how it is used, and how it can be analyzed. Students will examine a number of topics including: web architecture, web characterization and analysis, web archiving, Web 2.0, social networks, collective intelligence, search engines, web mining, information diffusion on the web, and the Semantic Web.
Students entering the BSCS+MS program in Computer Science should meet the minimum university admission requirements (Undergraduate Admission)
Have completed at least 60 undergraduate credit hours (at least 24 credit hours from ODU)
Have completed CS 361, CS 381, MATH 212, and all associated prerequisites for those courses.
Hold an overall GPA of 3.0 or higher and a GPA of 3.0 or higher in CS and MATH courses.
Complete an application in coordination with the CDA and GPD.
Students in the Linked Program must apply for admission to the MS program to start the semester after graduation from the BSCS program. Students must also let the GPD for admissions (csgpd@cs.odu.edu) know that they have applied for the MS Program and are in the Linked Program.
