Please note that the commencement ceremony at Old Dominion University will have an impact on the surrounding community.

Traffic Stops

Roadways near Old Dominion University will be temporarily impacted by the commencement exercises. Drivers may experience slight delays during this time.

Friday, May 5: ODU Police will stop all traffic on Hampton Boulevard between 49th and 43rd streets for approximately 20 minutes, beginning at 5:40 p.m.

Saturday, May 6: ODU Police will barricade 49th Street between Hampton Blvd. and Bluestone Ave. from 6 a.m. until 2 p.m. Vehicles needing accessible/ADA parking may access the 49th Street Stadium Garage via Bluestone Ave.

To avoid traffic congestion and delays, please consider using an alternate route like Colley Avenue/Jamestown Crescent.

Dining and Shopping

Merchants and residents should be aware that many families choose to dine directly before or after the commencement ceremony. Larger crowds should be expected in restaurants and stores, particularly those along Hampton Boulevard and in the University Village.

Attendance

Anyone is welcome to attend the commencement ceremony, provided he/she has a ticket. All children over the age of 3 requires a ticket. Tickets are only distributed to qualifying graduating students. Please do not call Commencement Central to request tickets. We are unable to fulfill any such ticket requests
